Meet the researcher + designer!

Hi there, my name’s Camille Yabut! I’m an aspiring UX Researcher and Designer all about creating meaningful experiences rooted in human needs. As someone who has dabbled in writing, tutoring, marketing, and human-centered design, I bring in an empathetic, analytical, and interdisciplinary lens to my work to deliver better experiences for people.

I am currently studying Cognitive Science (Design & Interaction) and Communication at UC San Diego. Learning about these two disciplines has greatly informed my identity as a researcher and designer, allowing me to simultaneously focus on both the fine details and system-level relationships. It has also made me a better communicator as I learned how to break down complicated theoretical topics and qualitative research into easily comprehensible presentations.

Apart from school, I have also worked at various on-campus institutions, such as The Design Lab and the Writing Hub at the Teaching + Learning Commons. At The Design Lab, I worked as a Junior Design Consultant under the Community Team and notably spearheaded the first-ever user research study on HOME 2024 (now World Design Capital 2024) to streamline their internal operations and improve the membership experience. I have also worked as a Social Media Manager and Content Strategist at the Lab, where I implemented and continuously updated the brand’s guidelines to increase our presence and engagement on different social media platforms. Currently, I work at the Writing Hub as a Writing Tutor who empowers student writers by assisting them with their assignments.

Outside of school and work, I’m a simple homebody who loves to journal, read books, and watch sitcoms! Recently though, I’ve been getting into photography and have enjoyed taking and editing photos to document my life experiences.
